NEWS UPDATE: JAMB TO PROVIDE FREE UTME FORMS TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

JAMB TO PROVIDE FREE UTME FORMS TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IN 2026/2027 EXAMINATION

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that persons with disabilities (PWDs) will receive free application documents for the 2026/2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), reinforcing the Board’s commitment to inclusivity and equal access to education.

The announcement was made in JAMB’s weekly bulletin published on Monday, detailing that eligible candidates with disabilities can process their free application forms through the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group. This initiative targets candidates intending to sit for the UTME who meet the eligibility criteria.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed the initiative during a stakeholder meeting at the Board’s national headquarters in Abuja. He reiterated that beneficiaries include individuals living with Down syndrome, autism, dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), among other conditions.

“To support candidates living with disabilities, JAMB will issue free application documents to all qualifying persons,” Oloyede said. “Applicants must have five O’Level credits in no more than two sittings. In addition, audiobooks will be provided to all blind candidates to enhance accessibility.”

The audiobooks are digital adaptations of conventional printed materials, available in popular formats such as MP3, WMV, and WMA, ensuring compatibility with various audio devices and enabling visually impaired candidates to access exam content independently.

This initiative highlights JAMB’s commitment to removing barriers to education and ensuring that candidates with disabilities have equal opportunities to pursue their academic aspirations.

JAMB also reminded the public that registration for the 2026/2027 UTME commenced on Monday, 26 January, and will close on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

Through this program, JAMB continues to champion inclusive education, ensuring that disability is not a hindrance to academic progression and that all candidates can participate in the UTME with dignity and support.
