TROOPS KILL TOP BOKO HARAM COMMANDER ABU KHALID IN NIGHT RAID

Nigerian troops have reportedly killed Abu Khalid, a senior commander of the Boko Haram terrorist group, during a night-time military raid carried out as part of ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East.

Security sources disclosed that the operation was conducted following actionable intelligence on the movement and hideout of the insurgent leader and his fighters. Troops were said to have launched a swift and coordinated assault on the location, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.

According to the sources, Abu Khalid, described as a key Boko Haram field commander responsible for coordinating attacks and logistics, was neutralised during the raid. Several other insurgents were also reportedly killed, while arms, ammunition, and communication equipment were recovered at the scene.

The military operation is part of sustained efforts by the Nigerian Armed Forces to dismantle remaining terrorist networks and weaken the operational capacity of Boko Haram and its splinter groups across the region.

Military authorities have not yet released an official statement confirming the identity of the slain commander, but security analysts say the reported killing of Abu Khalid could significantly disrupt the group’s command structure and ongoing operations.

Residents in nearby communities were advised to remain calm, as troops continue clearance and surveillance operations in the area to prevent retaliatory attacks.

The Nigerian military has repeatedly assured citizens of its commitment to ending insurgency and restoring lasting peace to affected communities in the North-East.
