OSHIOMHOLE VISITS TINUBU, HAILS FIRST LADY’S RECOGNITION BY TRUMP

Former Edo State Governor and current Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, Oshiomhole said the visit was primarily to greet the President, whom he had not seen since 2016, and to extend New Year wishes.

The former governor also highlighted the recent recognition of Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, by former U.S. President Donald Trump during the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C.

“President Trump acknowledged not only the Nigerian President but also the First Lady, describing her as a respectable and responsible woman, and as a pastor of one of Nigeria’s largest churches,” Oshiomhole said.

He noted the symbolic significance of the recognition, stressing its importance for religious harmony in Nigeria. “Trump recognised that the Nigerian President is a Muslim and that he has a Christian wife who is also a pastor. This sends a clear message that there can be no conflict between faiths, and Nigerians should work together for the common good,” he added.

Oshiomhole further emphasized that Nigerians should face challenges collectively and share in the nation’s benefits, underscoring unity and collaborative governance.

The visit reflects ongoing efforts by political leaders to maintain dialogue and showcase achievements in governance, while highlighting the international acknowledgment of Nigeria’s First Lady on the global stage.
