ADEBARE ENGAGES RELIGIOUS, LABOUR LEADERS, REAFFIRMS FAIR GOVERNANCE AMID FIRST-YEAR SCORECARD

The Executive Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government, Hon. Adebare Adeboye, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, held separate engagements with religious leaders and labour representatives, emphasizing unity, inclusive governance, and continued grassroots development.

The meetings brought together leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Islamic clerics, and officials of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ondo State chapter.

During discussions with religious leaders, Adeboye outlined key achievements recorded within his first year in office. Among them is the renovation of the local government secretariat, now equipped with a solar-powered electricity system to improve energy reliability and operational efficiency.

Addressing concerns over the long-standing 60/40 project-sharing arrangement between Ile-Oluji and Okeigbo, the chairman explained that project execution under his administration has been guided by fairness and prevailing infrastructural needs. He clarified that projects implemented in Okeigbo within the review period do not amount to 40 percent of those in Ile-Oluji, noting that allocations have been based on practical considerations rather than strict adherence to numerical ratios.

He cited the distribution of official vehicles to traditional rulers as an example, stating that four out of five vehicles were allocated to monarchs in Ile-Oluji, while one was assigned to Okeigbo, which has a single first-class Oba. According to him, the decision reflected relevance and immediate necessity within the communities.

Adeboye reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the established sharing framework, describing it as a legacy structure that will continue to guide governance in the local government.

On infrastructure, the chairman noted that several facilities recently upgraded had remained in poor condition for years, including during his earlier tenure as Supervisor for Works in 2009, highlighting the extent of rehabilitation carried out.

He also called on religious leaders to continue offering prayers and moral support, stressing the importance of spiritual guidance in leadership. He encouraged greater civic participation among citizens, including voter engagement and involvement in the political process.

In their remarks, religious leaders offered both commendation and advice. The Chief Imam of Ile-Oluji, Alhaji Omiata, urged the chairman to remain guided by his conscience, while the Chief Imam of Okeigbo, Alhaji Isiaka Oyewale, emphasized the importance of accountability and sustained performance.

Speaking on behalf of CAN in Ile-Oluji, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Olamija acknowledged the administration’s efforts but called for increased attention to rural road grading to enhance mobility and economic activities. Other clerics present included CAN Chairman in Okeigbo, Ap. Prophet (Dr.) E.O. Jesutayo, Rev. Taiwo Morakinyo, and Snr. Ap. Afolabi.

In a separate meeting, Adeboye received the Ondo State leadership of NULGE, led by its President, Comrade Fredrick Gbenga Akinrinlola, as part of an ongoing statewide tour to assess staff welfare and operational conditions in local government secretariats.

Akinrinlola commended the chairman’s performance, citing visible infrastructural improvements and administrative initiatives, and described him as one of the notable local government chairmen in Ondo State.

Discussions during the visit focused on staff welfare and workplace standards. Adeboye announced the introduction of a fuel subsidy for the staff bus to mitigate the impact of current economic conditions. He added that the initiative would be expanded over time, alongside phased financial assistance programmes aimed at improving workers’ welfare.

The engagements highlighted the administration’s focus on transparency, inclusiveness, and sustained development across Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government.
