KOGI GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES 20,000 CIVIL SERVICE JOBS AMID PLANNED YOUTH PROTEST

The Kogi State Government has announced plans to recruit 20,000 workers into the state civil service, a move aimed at addressing unemployment and improving the economic well-being of residents.

The announcement comes at a time when some youth groups in the state have reportedly been considering protests over employment opportunities and economic concerns.

According to the Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, the recruitment initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to create jobs, strengthen the public service, and provide sustainable livelihoods for young people in the state.

Fanwo disclosed that the online application portal for the recruitment exercise will officially open on March 19, 2026, allowing qualified citizens to apply for available positions within the state civil service.

The commissioner explained that the recruitment exercise is designed to engage youths productively while improving manpower across government institutions.

He noted that the state government remains committed to policies that promote economic inclusion and job creation, particularly for young people who form a significant portion of the population.

According to the government, the employment programme is expected to support public sector service delivery while providing new opportunities for job seekers across the state.

Although details regarding the specific categories of positions and eligibility requirements have not yet been fully released, authorities said interested applicants would be able to access comprehensive guidelines once the recruitment portal becomes active.

Observers say the recruitment announcement may help ease growing concerns among youths about employment opportunities and economic prospects in the state.

The government has encouraged eligible residents to prepare their application documents ahead of the portal opening to ensure a smooth registration process.

Further details regarding the recruitment process, application procedures, and deadlines are expected to be released by the Kogi State Government in the coming days.
