JEGUN OF ILE-OLUJI DRIVES RAPID DEVELOPMENT AS ODUNDUN TOWN HALL GETS MAJOR UPGRADE
By Prince George Akinsulire (George Bush)
The historic Odundun Town Hall in Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, is currently undergoing a significant renovation as part of broader efforts to enhance infrastructure and promote community development within the town.
The upgrade project is being carried out under the leadership of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Julius Oluwole Olufaderin Adetimehin, Jimoko II, Jegun Olu-Ekun and Paramount Ruler of Ile-Oluji Kingdom, in collaboration with the Jegun-in-Council and the Ile-Oluji Development Council (IDC).
The ongoing transformation reflects the monarch’s sustained commitment to the growth and modernization of Ile-Oluji. Observers note that the community has witnessed notable progress across multiple sectors since the beginning of his reign, with increased attention to infrastructure, social development, and urban renewal.
Odundun Town Hall, once regarded as the foremost event centre in the community before the establishment of the Civic Centre, holds longstanding cultural and social relevance. Its renovation is aimed at preserving its heritage while upgrading its facilities to meet modern standards.
Work already completed and ongoing at the facility includes a comprehensive repainting of the structure, giving it a renewed appearance, as well as the procurement of new plastic tables and chairs to enhance seating capacity and user comfort. Additional improvements are in progress to ensure the hall functions as a modern and efficient event venue.
Community leaders describe the initiative as part of a wider development agenda focused on repositioning Ile-Oluji as a progressive and well-structured urban centre. Residents and stakeholders have also been encouraged to support ongoing projects that contribute to the town’s growth and overall development.
The project underscores a collaborative approach between traditional leadership and community development bodies in driving sustainable progress within Ile-Oluji.
