JEGUN OF ILE-OLUJI SET TO MARK 10TH CORONATION ANNIVERSARY WITH WEEK-LONG CELEBRATION IN JUNE
One of the foremost first-class traditional rulers in Ondo State, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Olufaderin Oluwole Adetimehin, Jimoko II, the Jegun Olu-Ekun and Paramount Ruler of Ile-Oluji Kingdom, is set to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his coronation with a series of events scheduled to hold from June 5 to June 14, 2026.
The anniversary celebration, themed “A Decade of Purposeful Kingship: Peace, Progress and the People,” is expected to attract indigenes of Ile-Oluji Kingdom from across Nigeria and the diaspora, alongside dignitaries from various sectors.
According to details released by the Central Planning Committee, the activities will commence on Friday, June 5, 2026, with a Jumat service at the Ile-Oluji Central Mosque. The programme will continue on Monday, June 8, with a media interactive session at the Jegun’s palace.
The schedule of events also includes an inter-street football competition aimed at promoting youth engagement, as well as traditional homage visits by district heads, obas, olojas, and baales within the kingdom. In addition, selected community projects are expected to be commissioned, while cocoa seedlings will be distributed to farmers as part of efforts to support agricultural development.
Other highlights of the celebration include a cultural variety night featuring dance and drama performances, a dancing competition among primary school pupils, and a cultural attire showcase designed to promote the rich heritage of the kingdom.
The grand finale of the anniversary will take place on June 13 at the Ile-Oluji Civic Centre, while a thanksgiving service is scheduled for June 14 at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Ile-Oluji.
Speaking on the significance of the milestone, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Chief Sola Akinfemiwa, noted that the past decade has witnessed notable transformation across the kingdom. He attributed this to initiatives focused on human capital development, economic growth, and infrastructural improvement under the leadership of Oba Adetimehin.
He further stated that the anniversary provides an opportunity for the people of Ile-Oluji Kingdom to reflect on the progress recorded over the years and celebrate the monarch’s contributions to peace, unity, and development.
