ONDO APC CONGRESS RETURNS BABATUNDE AS STATE CHAIRMAN, 35 OTHERS EMERGE IN CONSENSUS VOTE
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State on Tuesday conducted its state congress in Akure, resulting in the emergence of new members of the State Executive Committee through a consensus arrangement.
The congress, held at The Dome International Event Centre in Akure, produced a total of 36 officials who will oversee the affairs of the party in the state for the next tenure, in line with the party’s constitution and guidelines for internal elections.
A former member of the House of Representatives, Kolawole Babatunde, popularly known as Ameachi, was returned as the State Chairman of the party. His emergence followed consultations among party leaders and stakeholders, culminating in a consensus endorsement at the congress.
Veteran journalist Alex Kalejaye from Ilaje also emerged as the State Secretary, alongside other executive members elected into various positions within the State Executive Committee.
The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, attended the congress alongside other prominent leaders and stakeholders of the party. Party officials described the exercise as peaceful and orderly.
The development comes amid preparations by the party to strengthen its internal structures ahead of upcoming political activities in the state. Further official statements are expected from the party leadership regarding the newly constituted executive committee.
