ONDO APC UNVEILS COMPLETE LIST OF NEW STATE EXCOS AS KOLAWOLE BABATUNDE EMERGES CHAIRMAN AT PEACEFUL CONGRESS


The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State on Tuesday held a peaceful state congress in Akure, where Hon. Kolawole Babatunde emerged as the new State Chairman alongside other members of the State Working Committee.

The congress, conducted through consensus and affirmation, took place at the International Centre for Culture and Events (The Dome). A total of 35 other executives were affirmed to serve in various capacities within the party’s state structure.

Addressing party members at the event, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa urged members to uphold unity, discipline and internal democracy, describing the exercise as a significant step toward consolidating the party’s structure.

He stated that the congress was more than a routine political activity, but a reaffirmation of the party’s commitment to unity, inclusiveness and discipline.

According to the governor, the APC remains a party built on structure, order and collective responsibility, noting that personal ambitions must be subordinated to the overall interest and stability of the party.

Governor Aiyedatiwa commended stakeholders who made sacrifices to allow consensus to prevail, describing the outcome as a reflection of the party’s spirit in the state. He congratulated the newly elected executives and reminded them that their emergence represents a call to service, urging them to strengthen grassroots structures and mobilise support across the state.

The governor also reaffirmed the state chapter’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope agenda, citing ongoing reform efforts and infrastructure initiatives.

In his acceptance speech titled “A New Dawn of Unity and Progress,” Hon. Kolawole Babatunde pledged to provide transparent, disciplined and inclusive leadership. He described his emergence as a collective victory and assured members that the era of internal division would be addressed through unity and structured engagement.

Babatunde emphasised that there was no winner or loser in the exercise, reiterating his commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots base, empowering youths, promoting women’s participation in leadership and respecting the role of elders within the party.

Earlier, Chairman of the Ondo APC State Congress Committee, Comrade Ogonna Obiekwe, described the exercise as a demonstration of the party’s shared values of discipline, fairness and unity. He urged members to maintain maturity and sportsmanship, noting that healthy competition should strengthen rather than divide the party.
