SINGER ASA MOURNS MOTHER’S DEATH AFTER SUDDEN ILLNESS

Nigerian singer-songwriter Bukola Elemide, popularly known as Asa, has announced the passing of her mother following a sudden illness linked to a brain tumour.

The 43-year-old musician shared the news on Tuesday via her official Instagram page, where she paid an emotional tribute to her late mother, describing her as “my reason to be, my queen, my everything.”

According to Asa, the illness came unexpectedly. “A sudden brain tumor came without warning and took you too soon,” she wrote, expressing deep grief over the loss.

In her tribute, the award-winning singer portrayed her mother as a kind and gentle figure whose presence had a profound impact on her life. She described her as “generous” and “the kindest soul,” adding that she had a quiet yet distinctive personality.

“You were extremely shy, and so funny. My biggest fan,” Asa wrote, reflecting on their close bond.

She also shared a personal memory highlighting her mother’s unwavering support for her music career, noting that despite not being a trained singer, she sang along wholeheartedly to her songs.

“You couldn’t hold a note to save your life, but you sang every one of my songs with your whole heart,” she added.

The singer concluded her tribute with a heartfelt farewell, stating that her mother’s strength, love, and spirit would remain with her forever.

Following the announcement, fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry have expressed their condolences. Singer Tiwa Savage prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased, while Johnny Drille offered prayers for comfort for Asa and her family during the difficult period.

Other public figures, including influencer Enioluwa and gospel singer Prospa Ochimana, also extended their sympathies, joining many others in mourning the loss.
