NAPPS HONOURS PAST PRESIDENTS AS PASTOR (DR) EBENEZER AKINTOMIDE, OTHERS RECEIVE PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS IN ONDO
The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Ondo State Chapter, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, held a colourful Presidential Award Ceremony to honour its past presidents for their contributions to the growth and development of private education in the state.
Among those recognised at the event was Pastor (Dr) Ebenezer Akintomide, the Proprietor of JOTAMCO Group of Schools, Ile-Oluji, and a former State President of NAPPS, who was honoured for his role in advancing the association’s vision and strengthening private education in Ondo State.
The ceremony, held in Akure, brought together dignitaries, education stakeholders, school proprietors, and NAPPS leaders from across the 18 local government areas of the state.
In his welcome address, the State President of NAPPS, Dr. Akintayo Oluwafemi Richard (JP), expressed appreciation to guests and described the occasion as a historic moment dedicated to recognising the sacrifices and leadership of past presidents.
He noted that the award ceremony was inspired by the enduring principle that the contributions of past leaders should be remembered and celebrated, adding that the honourees played critical roles in strengthening unity, defending the interests of private school owners, and improving educational standards in the state.
Dr. Akintayo further described the awardees as key figures whose legacies continue to guide the association’s growth and development, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to unity, professionalism, and sustainable progress in the private education sector.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Pastor Oladotun Oladunjoye, emphasised the need for greater unity among members and urged stakeholders to prioritise the collective interest of the association.
He also called on relevant government authorities to address challenges affecting private school operators, particularly issues related to multiple taxation and levies, advocating for a harmonised system to ease operational burdens.
In a separate remark, Hon. Ilesanmi, Proprietor of Pragmatic College, described the event as successful and highlighted the importance of collaboration between private school owners and government institutions to ensure long-term development in the education sector.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of awards to past leaders, including Chief R. A. Fasoranti, Pa Ogunode, Pastor J. B. Fayanju, Pastor Emmanuel Fapohunda, Elder Kunle Eko-Davis, Hon. Sanni Michael, Pastor Goke Orimoloye, Barr. Stephen O. Abitogun, Chief Ijidakinro Derick, and Pastor (Dr) Ebenezer Akintomide, among others.
The event also witnessed the presence of notable personalities, including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, represented by Hon. Prince Ileola Adegoroye, as well as members of the Ondo State House of Assembly and NAPPS executives from across the state.
The gathering underscored a renewed call for unity and policy reforms aimed at strengthening private education and supporting school proprietors in Ondo State.
