ONDO GOVERNMENT ORDERS SWEEPING CRACKDOWN ON KIDNAPPING SYNDICATES ACROSS THE STATE

The Ondo State Government has directed all security agencies operating within the state to intensify efforts against kidnapping syndicates following recent incidents recorded in parts of the state.

In an official statement, the government expressed deep concern over the development, noting that findings indicate that some of the criminal activities were allegedly orchestrated with the involvement of local collaborators. Authorities stated that any attempt to use criminal acts to portray the state as unsafe will not be tolerated and will attract firm and lawful action.

The government has mandated security agencies to strengthen surveillance, enhance intelligence gathering, and immediately clamp down on individuals or groups involved in kidnapping and related crimes. It emphasized that those found culpable will be apprehended, thoroughly investigated, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, the government highlighted ongoing investments in strengthening the state’s security architecture. These include the provision of utility vehicles and logistics support to security agencies, the construction of a modern Crime Control Centre for the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), and the recent recruitment of 500 trained Amotekun personnel to boost intelligence operations and rapid response capabilities across the state.

Traditional rulers have been urged to remain vigilant and closely monitor activities within their domains, while promptly reporting any suspicious movements or gatherings to security authorities. Residents were also encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing credible information that may assist in curbing criminal activities.

The government reiterated that the protection of lives and property remains its foremost priority and assured residents that no individual or group will be allowed to undermine the peace, security, and stability of the state. The statement was signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku.
