ONDO GOVT REASSURES INDIGENES IN MIDDLE EAST, URGES CALM AMID REGIONAL UNREST
The Ondo State Government has extended a message of solidarity to indigenes of the state currently residing in the Middle East and other regions experiencing conflict and unrest, assuring them of continued support and concern for their safety.
In a statement issued on behalf of the government and people of Ondo State, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Diaspora Matters, Oluyemi Fasipe, conveyed warm greetings to citizens abroad and acknowledged the challenges they face amid prevailing security uncertainties.
According to the statement, the government recognises the courage and resilience required to live and work in environments affected by instability, especially for those far from home.
“To every Ondo indigene living in the Middle East and in other parts of the world currently facing the realities of war and unrest, please know that you are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. We understand that these are not easy times,” the statement read.
The government commended the contributions of Ondo indigenes in the diaspora, noting that many left Nigeria in search of better opportunities while continuing to support their families and represent the state with dignity.
It urged citizens abroad to prioritise their safety by staying informed, adhering strictly to directives issued by local authorities, and maintaining contact with Nigerian embassies and other official channels in their countries of residence.
The statement emphasised that the lives and wellbeing of Ondo indigenes abroad remain a matter of concern to the state government and their families at home.
“As sons and daughters of Ondo State, we are known for resilience, faith, and determination. Those qualities have carried our people through difficult times before, and they will carry you through this season as well,” the statement added.
The government also expressed hope for the swift restoration of peace and stability in affected regions and reiterated that Ondo State remains home to all its citizens, regardless of distance.
Fasipe reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting diaspora engagement and maintaining close ties with Ondo indigenes worldwide.
