ONDO POLICE, SECURITY AGENCIES LAUNCH STATEWIDE SHOW-OF-FORCE TO BOOST SAFETY AND PUBLIC CONFIDENCE

The Ondo State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has conducted a coordinated show-of-force patrol across key locations in the state as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and reassure residents.

The operation, which took place on Monday, March 16, 2026, was led by the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal. It involved personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army’s 32 Brigade Artillery, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps.

Security operatives were deployed across major highways, commercial centres, flashpoints, and densely populated areas within Akure and surrounding communities. The patrol featured convoys of security vehicles and motorcycles, with armed personnel moving through strategic routes in a coordinated display aimed at deterring criminal activities.

Authorities stated that the exercise is part of a broader strategy to address emerging security challenges, including kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, and other violent crimes. The initiative is also intended to demonstrate the readiness and operational coordination among security agencies in maintaining law and order.

Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police noted that the show-of-force patrol underscores the command’s commitment to proactive and intelligence-driven policing. He emphasized that security agencies in the state remain united in their resolve to protect lives and property.

He further reassured residents that efforts are ongoing to ensure a safe environment for lawful activities, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.

The police command also acknowledged the support and guidance of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, noting that strategic leadership at the national level continues to contribute to operational effectiveness across commands.

Residents were encouraged to cooperate with security personnel during patrols and other lawful operations, as public support is considered vital to sustaining security efforts in the state.

The joint patrol highlights ongoing inter-agency collaboration in Ondo State, with officials noting that cooperation among the police, military, NSCDC, and Amotekun Corps remains key to tackling security threats and ensuring coordinated responses.
