ONE YEAR OF TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP: ADEBARE ADEBOYE’S PROJECTS RESHAPE DEVELOPMENT IN ILE-OLUJI/OKEIGBO

The Executive Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Hon. Adebare Adeboye, has marked his first year in office with a series of developmental projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure, improving governance, and enhancing the welfare of residents across the local government.

Within twelve months of assuming office, the administration has implemented several initiatives designed to stimulate economic activity, modernize public facilities, and improve service delivery in the council area.

Among the notable projects is the construction of a dual-purpose solar-powered car park at the Local Government Secretariat. The facility is fitted with solar panels capable of generating renewable electricity to support operations within the Secretariat. The initiative is expected to reduce reliance on fuel-powered generators and the national grid while promoting clean and sustainable energy usage within the local government.

The administration also undertook the dredging of key waterways in Ile-Oluji metropolis to address flooding concerns, particularly during the rainy season. The intervention aims to improve drainage flow, reduce the risk of flood damage to homes and businesses, and enhance environmental safety in affected communities.

To strengthen governance and administrative efficiency, the local government procured official vehicles for senior political office holders and senior career officers. The move is intended to improve mobility and support effective coordination of government activities across departments.

In recognition of the role of traditional institutions in community leadership and social stability, the council also presented vehicles to selected royal fathers within the local government area. The gesture underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with traditional authorities.

Another key milestone recorded during the year is the renovation of the Local Government Secretariat. Several offices, including those occupied by advisers and supervisors, were upgraded to provide a more conducive and professional working environment for staff and officials, thereby enhancing productivity and improving public service delivery.

As part of its commitment to staff welfare, the administration also provided a staff bus for members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in the council. The initiative is aimed at supporting transportation needs and improving working conditions for local government employees.

Similarly, a utility bus was made available to the Legislative House of the local government to support legislative activities and enable council lawmakers to carry out their responsibilities more effectively.

Beyond administrative reforms, the Adeboye administration has also introduced social welfare initiatives. One of such programmes is the provision of monthly stipends for elderly citizens across communities in the local government area, designed to support vulnerable residents and extend social support at the grassroots.

The council also carried out extensive grading of rural roads across Ile-Oluji and Okeigbo communities. The road improvements have enhanced accessibility for farmers and traders, making it easier to transport agricultural produce and access markets and essential services.

Another significant project is the renovation and reconstruction of Obada Market in Okeigbo. The project included the construction of a concrete access road within the market, which has improved accessibility and created a more organized trading environment for merchants and buyers.

Observers note that the range of projects executed within the first year reflects the administration’s focus on infrastructure development, economic growth, community welfare, and sustainable governance.

As the administration moves into its second year, residents of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo are expected to see continued efforts aimed at expanding development initiatives and strengthening local economic opportunities.

The council leadership has maintained that the ongoing projects are part of a broader strategy to improve living standards, boost trade and commerce, and promote inclusive development across the local government area.
