ONDO POLICE CHIEF CONDUCTS SECURITY ASSESSMENT ACROSS WORSHIP CENTRES IN ONDO NORTH
The Ondo State Police Command has conducted a comprehensive security assessment across major worship centres in the Ondo North Senatorial District as part of efforts to strengthen safety and public confidence.
The exercise, led by the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, took place on March 22, 2026, and forms part of ongoing policing strategies aimed at enhancing the protection of lives, property, and critical infrastructure across the state.
According to the Command, the initiative aligns with the broader security vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, which focuses on proactive policing, community engagement, and improved intelligence gathering.
During the visits, the Commissioner engaged with religious leaders and congregants, stressing the importance of vigilance and collaboration with security agencies. He encouraged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to law enforcement authorities to help prevent potential security threats.
He also advocated for the installation of functional Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems in worship centres and other public spaces to enhance surveillance and aid security operations.
The security assessment covered several religious centres, including The African Church, St. Paul’s Parish, Ugbe Akoko; Celestial Church of Christ, Republic of Emmanuel Parish, Iboropa Akoko; The African Church, Everlasting Rock Parish, Epinni Akoko; Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, Akungba Akoko; Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), Akungba Akoko; Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Akunmi, Akungba Akoko; and Saint James Anglican Church, Akungba Akoko.
Speaking at the end of the exercise, CP Lawal reassured residents and worshippers of the Command’s commitment to maintaining a secure environment. He urged citizens to go about their lawful and religious activities without fear, noting that adequate security measures have been put in place across the state.
The Commissioner also charged officers and personnel of the Command to remain professional, vigilant, and proactive in the discharge of their duties, reiterating the Police Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Ondo State.
