2027 RACE: ADEYEMI UNVEILS PLAN TO TRANSFORM ONDO SOUTH INTO ECONOMIC POWERHOUSE

A former member of the House of Representatives and senatorial aspirant for Ondo South, Hon. Engr. Janet Febisola Adeyemi, has outlined an ambitious development agenda aimed at repositioning the district as a centre of industrial growth, maritime development, and agricultural prosperity.

Adeyemi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), presented her vision while declaring her intention to contest the senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

She stated that her mission is focused on unlocking the economic potential of Ondo South through strategic investments in agro-processing, small and medium-scale enterprises, and the blue economy.

According to her, the coastal nature of the district offers significant opportunities in maritime trade, fisheries, and port development, which, if properly harnessed, could drive job creation and increase revenue generation.

“A coordinated approach to developing our maritime assets can position Ondo South as a major contributor to regional and national economic growth,” she said.

Adeyemi emphasised that agriculture would remain central to her development strategy, with plans to support farmers through improved access to modern inputs, financing, and enhanced value-chain systems.

She also highlighted the importance of establishing cottage industries to process local produce, reduce post-harvest losses, and stimulate rural economies across the district.

On infrastructure, the aspirant noted that effective representation at the Senate would prioritise attracting federal projects, promoting public-private partnerships (PPP), and advocating policies that support improvements in road networks, power supply, and coastal infrastructure.

Adeyemi further stressed her commitment to inclusive governance, noting that women, youths, and vulnerable groups would benefit from targeted empowerment programmes under her leadership.

“Our goal is to move Ondo South from potential to productivity, from resources to results, and from promise to prosperity,” she said.

She expressed confidence that, with the right policies and collaborative leadership, Ondo South could emerge as a key economic hub within Ondo State and the broader Niger Delta region.

“Our strength lies in our people and resources. With focused leadership, Ondo South can become an industrial backbone of the Southwest and a major driver of Nigeria’s economic growth,” she added.

On party processes, Adeyemi reaffirmed her commitment to the unity and discipline of the APC, stating that she would respect the party’s decision if a consensus candidate is eventually adopted.
