AIYEDATIWA CALLS FOR PARTY UNITY AHEAD OF 2027 APC PRIMARIES
As preparations gather momentum for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of its 2027 primary elections, Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has urged party members to remain loyal, committed, and uphold the principles of unity and sportsmanship throughout the process.
The governor made this appeal during the second quarter sta
keholders’ meeting of the APC South Senatorial District, held in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Addressing party faithful, Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the growing political ambitions among members contesting for various elective positions, including seats in the State Houses of Assembly, National Assembly, governorship, and the presidency. However, he stressed the importance of prioritizing the collective interest of the party over individual aspirations.
According to him, the overarching goal remains the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
“I am aware that many of you have individual ambitions—whether for the State House of Assembly or the National Assembly—but there is a paramount collective goal, and that is the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” he said.
The governor further urged aspirants to remain steadfast within the APC regardless of the outcome of the primaries, emphasizing that political success often requires patience and perseverance.
“I therefore urge you to remain loyal and committed to the party, whether you win or not. There is always a time for everyone. Only one person can emerge at a time,” he added.
Reflecting on his political trajectory, Aiyedatiwa recounted past electoral setbacks and how his continued loyalty to the party eventually paved the way for his emergence as governor.
He noted that despite losing previous bids for the House of Representatives and Senate, as well as missing out on the deputy governorship ticket in 2016, he chose to remain within the party structure.
“Today, I am the governor. So, there is time for everyone,” he said.
In his remarks, the Ondo State APC Chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, commended the governor for ongoing developmental projects and programmes across the state. He also called for sustained cooperation among party members and residents to ensure continued progress.
The meeting attracted several prominent party leaders, including former Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi, Olusola Oke (SAN), APC National Vice Chairman (South-West) Isaac Kekemeke, Morayo Lebi, Mayowa Akinfolarin, Prince Jimmy Odimayo, Donald Ojogo, and Festus Ayodele Adefiranye, among others.
