ATIKU PLEDGES FULL SUPPORT FOR ADC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE AHEAD OF 2027 ELECTION

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reaffirmed his commitment to party unity, stating that he will support whoever emerges as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 general elections.

Atiku made this known during a recent interview, where he emphasized the importance of collective responsibility among party members and aspirants. According to him, all contenders must be prepared to rally behind the eventual flag bearer in the interest of strengthening the party’s chances at the polls.

“We will support and endorse whoever emerges as the flag bearer,” he said, noting that internal contests are a normal part of democratic processes. He compared the ADC’s situation with previous experiences in other political parties where multiple aspirants contested for the presidential ticket.

The former vice president also highlighted what he described as the growing appeal of the ADC, particularly among young people. He noted that the party has increasingly attracted youth participation across various levels of political engagement.

According to him, many of those aspiring to elective offices within the party, from local government positions to national legislative seats, are young individuals. He added that the party remains committed to creating opportunities for both youths and women to participate actively in governance.

When asked whether he would support a younger presidential candidate if one emerges, Atiku responded affirmatively, indicating openness to generational inclusion in leadership.

On concerns regarding the party’s stability, Atiku dismissed suggestions that recent internal developments could weaken the ADC. He maintained that the party continues to gain support across the country and remains focused on its long-term objectives.

Reflecting on national issues, Atiku expressed concern over Nigeria’s economic and security challenges. He said many citizens are increasingly calling for change due to the current situation in the country.

He linked rising insecurity, particularly in parts of northern Nigeria, to factors such as youth unemployment and limited access to quality education. According to him, addressing these issues requires sustained investment in education and job creation.

Atiku also raised concerns about governance and accountability, stressing the need for stronger efforts to tackle corruption and improve public trust in institutions.

He concluded by expressing confidence that Nigerians are becoming more engaged in shaping the country’s future, especially as preparations gradually begin toward the 2027 elections.
