Renowned Nigerian entrepreneur and philanthropist, Chief (Dr.) Oladele Fajemirokun, popularly known as Baba Oba, has marked his 76th birthday today, April 16, 2026, amid tributes celebrating his enduring impact on business and society.
Born on April 16, 1950, Fajemirokun hails from the distinguished families of the late High Chief Henry Oloyede Fajemirokun, with roots in Ifewara and Ile-Oluji, and Chief (Mrs.) Osebosade Fajemirokun (née Adepetun), a respected figure from Ondo.
He began his educational journey across several states, completing his primary education at Mayflower School, Ikenne, Ogun State, and his secondary education at Loyola College, Ibadan. He later undertook Advanced Level studies at Gboluji Grammar School, Ile-Oluji, before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University.
With over four decades of experience in enterprise development and investment, Fajemirokun has established himself as a key figure in Nigeria’s business landscape. He built a diverse portfolio spanning insurance, telecommunications, oil and gas, agriculture, food supply chain, and manufacturing, demonstrating a strategic approach to long-term value creation.
His business interests and affiliations have included notable companies such as AIICO Insurance Plc, Food Concepts & Entertainment Plc (owners of Chicken Republic), Xerox Nigeria, and Kings Guards Securities Limited, among others. Through these ventures, he has contributed to employment generation and economic growth across multiple sectors.
Fajemirokun is widely regarded for his leadership style, which emphasizes mentorship and empowerment. By supporting entrepreneurial talent and providing strategic guidance, he has helped nurture a new generation of business leaders.
Beyond commerce, he has remained committed to community development and philanthropy, supporting initiatives in education, religion, and social welfare over several decades. His contributions, often made quietly, have impacted numerous individuals and institutions.

A devout Christian, Fajemirokun is known for his strong faith and commitment to service. He is also an enthusiast of sports, particularly football and tennis, and supports Arsenal Football Club and Nigeria’s national team, the Super Eagles.
He is married to Chief (Mrs.) Edith Fajemirokun, and their union is blessed with children and grandchildren.
