CULTURAL PROCESSION IN ILE-OLUJI ANNOUNCES PASSING OF RETIRED EDUCATOR, MRS. ADUKE AKINTOMIDE

A large crowd of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, colleagues, business associates, family members, friends, and sympathizers gathered on Tuesday, April 21, 2025, in Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, to participate in a public procession formally announcing the passing of Mrs. Aduke Akintomide.

The procession, which moved through key parts of the town, reflects a longstanding cultural tradition among the people of Ile-Oluji and the wider Yoruba community. Such public announcements serve as a symbolic and respectful way of informing residents and well-wishers of the death of a community member, while also celebrating the individual’s life and legacy.

Late Mrs. Akintomide was a retired principal of a government secondary school in Ile-Oluji. During her career in education, she was widely regarded for her commitment to academic development and mentorship, contributing to the growth and discipline of many students over the years.

Family members and associates described her as a woman of strong character, known for her generosity, compassion, and dedication to community service. Her influence extended beyond the classroom, with many acknowledging her role in shaping lives and supporting families within the community.

She was the wife of the late Chief Gabson Olanisimi Akintomide, the Saoku of Ile-Oluji Kingdom. Her children include Hon. (Dr.) Abiodun Henry Akintomide, popularly known as “Ibu Owo,” alongside Olabisi Akintomide (Tendo), Mr. Lekan Akintomide, and others.

According to the family, details of the burial arrangements will be communicated at a later date.
