GBAJABIAMILA SPARKS REACTIONS WITH REMARKS TO ADC LAWMAKER AT BIRTHDAY EVENT

Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has drawn public attention following remarks he made to Hon. Leke Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The comments were reportedly made during a birthday ceremony attended by political associates and stakeholders, where Gbajabiamila addressed Abejide in a lighthearted but politically suggestive manner.

According to accounts from the event, the Chief of Staff told the ADC lawmaker not to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), encouraging him instead to remain in his current party. He was quoted as saying, “Don’t come to APC. Stay in ADC and scatter them. We like what you’re doing.”

Gbajabiamila also referenced former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, noting that Abejide should disregard any suggestions to join the APC. He further remarked, “Stay in ADC and win your election. Also, bring Bala Gombe, and we’ll support him. Good luck in court.”

The statement, which has since circulated widely, has generated mixed reactions across political circles, with some interpreting it as a joke delivered in a convivial setting, while others view it as a politically charged comment reflecting underlying party dynamics ahead of future elections.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official clarification or statement from Gbajabiamila’s office regarding the remarks. Similarly, Hon. Abejide has not publicly responded to the comments.

Political analysts note that such exchanges, even when made informally, often attract scrutiny given Nigeria’s evolving political landscape and ongoing realignments ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
