APC RELEASES 2027 ELECTION TIMETABLE, SETS NOMINATION FEES FOR ASPIRANTS


The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally unveiled its timetable and schedule of activities ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, detailing key processes including the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, appeals, and primary elections.

The schedule, issued in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, and guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), provides a structured framework for individuals seeking to contest elective positions under the party’s platform.

Key Dates and Activities

According to the timetable released by the party, the notice of election will be communicated to state chapters on April 20, 2026. This will be followed by the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms between April 25 and May 2, 2026.

The deadline for submission of completed forms has been fixed for May 4, 2026.

Screening Process

Screening of aspirants for State Houses of Assembly, Governorship, House of Representatives, and Senate seats is scheduled to take place between May 9 and May 10, 2026. Presidential aspirants are to be screened separately on May 23, 2026.

Publication of Results and Appeals

The APC will publish screening results for State Assembly, National Assembly, and Governorship aspirants on May 13, 2026, while results for presidential screening will be released on May 24, 2026.

Appeals arising from the screening process will be handled between May 14 and May 25, 2026 across all categories.

Primary Elections Schedule

The party has fixed its primary elections across different positions as follows:

State House of Assembly: May 16 and May 24, 2026

Governorship: May 18 and May 25, 2026

House of Representatives: May 20 and May 25, 2026

Senate: May 22 and May 25, 2026

A special presidential convention is scheduled for May 28 to May 29, 2026. The process will be conducted using direct primaries across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Nomination Fees for Aspirants

The APC also announced the fees for nomination and Expression of Interest forms for various elective positions:

State House of Assembly: ₦5 million

House of Representatives: ₦10 million

Senate: ₦20 million

Governorship: ₦50 million

Presidential: ₦100 million

The party clarified that each fee covers both the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.

Concessions for Special Groups

In line with its inclusion policy, the APC stated that female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities will receive concessions. These categories are required to pay only for the Expression of Interest form and 50 percent of the Nomination fee.

Payment Guidelines

All payments are to be made into designated APC bank accounts. Further directives regarding payment procedures are expected to be issued by the party’s Directorate of Organisation.

The timetable was signed by the APC National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu.
