ILE-OLUJI YOUTH MOVEMENT BACKS AKINLOYE SEGUN’S MHA BID, PUSHES DEVELOPMENT AGENDA
A growing wave of political support is emerging in Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area as a youth movement in the community has thrown its weight behind Akinloye Segun, popularly known as Donsegzy, for the position of Member of the House of Assembly (MHA).
The endorsement follows increased visibility of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate’s campaign message, which centres on sustainable development and youth empowerment—two issues that resonate strongly with young people across the constituency.
According to campaign materials circulating within the community, Akinloye Segun is positioning his candidacy on a development-focused agenda, with emphasis on creating opportunities for young people and driving long-term economic growth at the grassroots level.
Members of the Ile-Oluji youth movement, who spoke during a recent engagement in the area, said their support is based on the candidate’s perceived alignment with the aspirations of young residents. They noted that unemployment, skills development, and local infrastructure remain pressing concerns that require focused representation at the state assembly.
The group also described Akinloye Segun as a well-known figure among the Ile-Oluji youth community, citing his familiarity with grassroots issues. They further referenced his family background and educational exposure as factors that have contributed to their confidence in his capacity to represent the constituency effectively.
“We are looking for leadership that understands the realities facing young people in our communities. The emphasis on youth empowerment and sustainable development is something we strongly identify with,” a representative of the group stated.
The campaign visuals associated with Akinloye Segun also highlight his affiliation with the SDP and reinforce his message of inclusive growth. Political observers in Ondo State say endorsements from youth groups could play a significant role in shaping voter sentiment ahead of the elections, especially in constituencies with a high population of young voters.
While the race for the Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo State Assembly seat is expected to attract multiple contenders, early endorsements such as this may influence campaign dynamics in the coming months.
As political activities intensify, stakeholders are calling for issue-based campaigns that focus on governance, accountability, and measurable development outcomes for residents of the constituency.
