ADC DECKS ABUJA VENUE IN PARTY COLOURS AHEAD OF HIGH-STAKES NATIONAL CONVENTION

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has intensified preparations for its 2026 National Convention, as the Rainbow Event Centre in Abuja is being fully decorated in the party’s colours ahead of the event scheduled for Tuesday.

A visit to the venue on Monday evening showed ongoing final arrangements, with workers putting finishing touches in readiness for the convention themed, “So the Nation May Work.” The atmosphere reflected growing anticipation as party members and supporters gathered in expectation of key proceedings.

Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee and former Rivers State Governor, Liyel Imoke, was seen personally supervising activities at the venue, signaling the importance attached to the event by the party leadership.

Other prominent figures present included former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha; former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olumide Akpata; former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kola Ologbondiyan; and former Director-General of the PDP Governors’ Forum, C.I.D. Maduabum, among other coalition leaders.

Despite logistical challenges that reportedly prevented the party from securing initial venues such as the Eagle Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome, the ADC finalized arrangements at the Rainbow Event Centre located in Garki, Area 8, Abuja.

Supporters were already seen occupying parts of the venue, while vendors selling refreshments appeared prepared to remain overnight, underscoring the scale of interest in the convention.

The party is expected to host over 300 delegates, with major agenda items including the affirmation of the National Working Committee led by David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, as well as the adoption of a revised party constitution and manifesto.

Political observers view the convention as a significant moment for the ADC as it seeks to strengthen its structure and position ahead of future electoral contests.
