ADC PICKS NICHOLAS TOFOWOMO AS ONDO SOUTH SENATORIAL CANDIDATE FOR 2027
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially affirmed former lawmaker, Distinguished Senator Nicholas Tofowomo, as its senatorial candidate for the Ondo South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The affirmation followed consultations and support from party leaders, stakeholders, and delegates across the six local government areas that make up the district, according to party sources.
Senator Tofowomo previously represented Ondo South in the National Assembly between 2019 and 2023. During his tenure, he was associated with various constituency empowerment initiatives, employment opportunities, infrastructural interventions, and legislative contributions targeted at national development and the welfare of constituents.
Speaking after his emergence as the ADC candidate, Tofowomo expressed appreciation to members of the party and supporters for the confidence placed in him. He also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing development across Ondo South through his policy framework known as the “STREP Agenda.”
The agenda focuses on five key areas:
S – Security
T – Transportation
R – Resources
E – Employment/Empowerment
P – Power (Electricity)
According to the former senator, the blueprint is designed to promote economic growth, infrastructure development, job creation, improved security, and better living standards within the district.
Tofowomo further stated that, if elected, he would prioritize responsive representation, effective lawmaking, and sustainable development projects for the people of Ondo South.
Political observers say the development may strengthen the ADC’s presence in Ondo State as political activities gradually build up ahead of the 2027 elections.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by Ayodeji Allen on behalf of Senator Nicholas Tofowomo on May 21, 2026.
