LAST-MINUTE SHAKE-UP AS APC POSTPONES HOUSE OF REPS PRIMARY ELECTION
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the postponement of its House of Representatives primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a press statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, the party disclosed that the House of Representatives primary, earlier scheduled for a different date, will now hold on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
According to the APC, all other previously announced dates for the Senate, State Houses of Assembly, Governorship, and Presidential primaries remain unchanged.
The statement was signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
Under the revised timetable released by the ruling party, the Senate primary election will take place on Monday, May 18, while the State House of Assembly primary is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20.
The governorship primary election is expected to hold on Thursday, May 21, while the presidential primary election will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Senate: Monday, May 18, 2026
State House of Assembly: Wednesday, May 20, 2026
Governorship: Thursday, May 21, 2026
Presidential: Saturday, May 23, 2026
The APC has not officially stated the reason for the postponement of the House of Representatives primary election.
