APC RELEASES TIMETABLE FOR 2026 LEGISLATIVE BY-ELECTIONS, ONDO SOUTH INCLUDED


The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released the schedule of activities and timetable for the forthcoming 2026 legislative bye-elections across selected senatorial districts and constituencies in Nigeria.

According to the timetable issued by the APC National Secretariat in Abuja and signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, Ondo South Senatorial District has been listed among the areas where the bye-election process will take place.

Other affected areas include Enugu North Senatorial District in Enugu State, Nasarawa North Senatorial District in Nasarawa State, Rivers South-East Senatorial District in Rivers State, Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency in Kano State, and Zuru State Constituency in Kebbi State.

Key Dates Announced by APC

The party stated that the notice of election to state chapters commenced on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

Sale of nomination forms began on Wednesday, May 20, and will end on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the APC National Secretariat.

The last day for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents is also Friday, May 22, 2026.

Screening of aspirants is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, while publication of screening results will follow the same day.

Appeals arising from the screening exercise are expected to hold on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

The APC primary election is scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2026, while primary election appeals will take place on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.



Cost of Nomination Forms

The APC also released the approved fees for aspirants seeking elective positions during the bye-elections.

For House of Assembly aspirants, the Expression of Interest form costs ₦1 million, while the Nomination form costs ₦5 million, bringing the total to ₦6 million.

House of Representatives aspirants are expected to pay ₦10 million in total, including ₦1 million for the Expression of Interest form and ₦9 million for the Nomination form.

Senatorial aspirants will pay ₦20 million, made up of ₦3 million for the Expression of Interest form and ₦17 million for the Nomination form.

The party, however, announced concessions for female aspirants, youths, and persons living with disabilities, stating that such categories are required to pay only for the Expression of Interest form and 50 percent of the prescribed Nomination fee.

Payment Details

The APC directed all payments to be made directly into designated bank accounts belonging to the party through Union Bank, UBA, and Zenith Bank.
