MAKINDE DECLARES 2027 PRESIDENTIAL BID, UNVEILS ‘RESET NIGERIA’ MOVEMENT

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Allied People’s Movement (APM).

The announcement was made on Thursday at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, where the governor also launched the “Reset Nigeria Movement,” a political mobilisation initiative aimed at building nationwide support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As part of the declaration, Makinde unveiled an official presidential campaign website designed to serve as the central platform for policy engagement, volunteer coordination, grassroots mobilisation, and participation from Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.

Speaking during the event, the governor said Nigeria requires a new direction driven by accountable leadership, institutional reforms, and policies capable of restoring public confidence in governance.

According to him, the country must move away from “politics as usual” and focus on rebuilding trust and delivering measurable progress for citizens.

“Nigeria cannot continue with politics as usual. This is the time to reset our nation, rebuild public trust, strengthen institutions, and create a system that works for all Nigerians,” Makinde stated.

The declaration attracted political stakeholders, party leaders, youth groups, professionals, and supporters from different parts of the country.

Among dignitaries present at the event was former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, alongside other notable political figures.

The development comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with discussions around coalition-building and opposition partnerships continuing to gain attention across the country.

Makinde’s move is expected to intensify conversations surrounding the next presidential race, especially within opposition political circles.

More details are expected to emerge in the coming days regarding the structure of the Reset Nigeria Movement and the governor’s broader political strategy for the 2027 election cycle.
